I started with the fall play, Miss Holmes, as a part of set crew freshman year! Then, I was a member of set and costumes crew for Chicago. At the end of my freshman year, I was named Props Crew Chief and I have continued with that role ever since. I also began acting for the fall play of my junior year, Puffs, and I have been acting in every production since. In addition, I directed the Strawberry Shortcake One-Act my senior year. I have been a part of 11 productions counting One-Acts, or 8 productions not including One-Acts.
If I had to describe my drama experience at GHMS in just three words:
Challenging, thriving community.
The department challenged me to grow as a technician, actor, and person. In addition, the department thrives with creativity and life. Above all else, the department is an irreplaceable community that benefits many students. My favorite production was The Play That Goes Wrong. I had a blast figuring out how to make the technically difficult props—it was like solving a puzzle! Sandra was also my favorite role. I truly enjoyed playing her as overdramatic as possible. Overall, I think this production received a lot of positive feedback from the community, and I cherish this play and its impact.
My plans after High School
I plan to attend a four-year college! I haven’t decided where yet. I intend to major in linguistics! Career-wise, I plan to explore archaeological linguistics. Someday, I would love to be a professor!
